Kaiyukan -Pacific Ocean 2-

In Japanese, whale shark is called “Jinbeizame”. It is said that it was named after the fact it looks like “Jinbai-Haori”,the Japanese traditional cloth.

It is a kind of shark, but it’s mellow and peaceful fish.

When they eat, they place their body vertically in water and inhale planktons together with water.

The Whale Shark and Manta share the same tank, but it is separated by the net.

Sometimes, you can catch the action of divers going into the tanks.

There are seats in front of the tank, so you can sit back and  watch the fishes.

There is the fish called Napoleon Fish, that bump on its head looks like Napoleon!

Different kinds of fishes are living near the bottom of the ocean.
By the way, this one is called Kelp bass. It looks funny, but it’s an upmarket fish!

The Whale Shark is swimming across from top to bottom freely.

The Whale Shark and Manta sometime swim closely to the bottom.

At the back of the Pacific Ocean area, they are playing the video showing the delivery of Manta.
Kaiyukan -Kelp Forest-
In the sea off the coast of Northern California, there is the forest of giant Kelps that grow up to 50 meter long stems.

This rich forest is the hide-out and spawning ground for many sea creatures.

Looks like it’s swimming freely, but despite it’s huge body, it has very sensitive heart.

I heard it gets easily startled by the loud noise or the flash, and bumps into the glass.
